ElderBuddy (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how it is shared when you use the ElderBuddy mobile application (the “Service”).

Information We Collect

• Account Information: If you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, or a unique user ID.
• Voice Input: If microphone features are enabled, your voice input is transmitted securely for speech-to-text processing and AI response generation. Raw audio recordings are not permanently stored by ElderBuddy.
• Conversation Transcripts: Text messages and AI-generated responses may be stored to provide personalization, memory features, and conversation continuity.
• Usage & Diagnostics: Limited technical data such as crash logs, device type, and performance metrics may be collected to improve reliability and security.

How We Use Information

• To provide AI-generated conversational responses.
• To personalize user experiences and memory features.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
• To respond to support requests.

Third-Party AI Processing

ElderBuddy uses OpenAI, a third-party artificial intelligence service provider, to generate conversational responses.

When you interact with ElderBuddy, the following information may be transmitted securely to OpenAI:

• Voice input (if microphone features are used)
• Text messages and conversation transcripts
• Limited contextual profile information necessary to generate relevant responses

This data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and is used solely for the purpose of generating AI responses. OpenAI provides privacy and security protections that meet industry standards. We do not sell personal data.

Data Storage & Retention

Conversation transcripts and user preferences may be stored on secure cloud servers. We retain information only as long as necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate operational purposes. Users may request deletion of their data at any time by contacting us.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with trusted service providers necessary to operate the Service, including OpenAI (AI processing) and cloud hosting providers. These providers are contractually required to safeguard personal information.

Permissions

The app may request access to the microphone to enable voice interaction. You may disable permissions at any time through your device settings.

Children’s Privacy

ElderBuddy is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
